Vote YES on S. 3711 -- Why? Clean, Alternative Energy

A vote for S. 3711 — The Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 — is a vote for clean, alternative energy. When the U.S. Senate considers S. 3711 this week, Senators need to remember that, more than ever, America must develop alternative and clean sources of energy. But it can’t happen without natural gas. The U.S. Senate can make it happen by safely accessing the abundant supplies of American natural gas on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
• Natural gas is used to make fertilizer for ethanol.
• Natural gas is used to make methane for hydrogen.
• Hydrogen is used to eliminate soot for clean diesel fuel.
• Electric utilities use natural gas to generate clean power.
• Natural gas is a raw material that goes into lightweight cars, wind power blades, solar panels and energy efficient materials.
If Congress is serious about pursuing alternative energies, then it must get serious about safely accessing America’s natural gas supplies.
| By voting YES on S. 3711, the U.S. Senate can reverse a more than 25-year ‘Just Say No’ energy policy. We can safely access the abundant supplies of American energy on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). Some estimate that the OCS has enough oil to meet demand for 20 years and enough gas to heat our homes for 20 years. Congress holds the key to ending the current energy crisis in the U.S. VOTE YES ON S. 3711 – AMERICA IS COUNTING ON YOUR VOTE. |
