CAES EAGER TO WORK WITH CONGRESS, BUSH ADMINISTRATION ON NEW ENERGY POLICIES
Alliance Supports Efforts That Increase Energy Efficiency, Diversity and Supply
WASHINGTON, DC (January 24, 2007) – Energy Security themes and proposals remain a top-tier priority among leaders of Congress and the Administration. Following last night’s State of the Union address, the Consumer Alliance on Energy Security, a broad coalition of groups representing millions of Americans whose livelihoods depend on reliable and affordable supplies of energy, issued the following statement:
“We are eager to work with Congressional Leaders, including Speaker Pelosi and Leader Boehner in the House, and Leaders Reid and McConnell in the Senate, and with the Bush Administration, to develop policies that increase energy efficiency, diversity and supply. We support aggressive energy efficiency programs, in part to stretch the existing domestic natural gas supply base; investments in alternative energy R&D to diversify energy sources; investments in energy delivery infrastructure; and – last but certainly not least – increased access to new sources of domestic energy supply.
The Consumer Alliance for Energy Security played a prominent role in winning passage of last year’s Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act. We are committed to pursuing additional energy objectives during the 110th session of Congress on a bipartisan basis.”
