FLORIDA CONSUMER ALLIANCE FOR ENERGY SECURITY APPLAUDS SENATE VOTE ON VITAL ENERGY LEGISLATION

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Consumer Alliance for Energy Security released a statement regarding today’s approval by the U.S. Senate on the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006, which would safely access domestic energy resources in the Gulf of Mexico.
“Today’s strong bipartisan support of Senate Bill 3711 represents the confidence among elected leaders that opening American energy resources in the Gulf of Mexico is absolutely right direction for our nation to take. This historic legislation is poised to help alleviate the strain all American businesses and households are experiencing due to the current energy crisis,” said Barney Bishop, President and CEO of Associated Industries of Florida and an alliance member."
“Escalating energy prices are adversely affecting the growth potential of our businesses and industries as well as the purchasing power of Florida households. Allowing safe access to natural gas supplies in Florida’s offshore fields will boost our economy through job growth and business expansion.”
